We’re pleased to offer a specialized therapy service for victims of crime. Our intensive trauma therapy helps most crime victims to recover from the trauma and loss in a matter of days, so they can move on with their lives.
Western MA: We offer no-cost intensive trauma therapy to victims of crime in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties in Western MA, thanks to a VOCA grant*. Victims of many types of crime are eligible, including assault, rape, robbery, intimate partner violence, child abuse, kidnapping, vehicular homicide, and suicide. Recent or long ago is okay. Witnesses and family members of victims are also eligible for services. A police report is not required.
To express your interest in receiving therapy through this grant program, please e-mail Nikki Gamache, or call her at (413) 774-2340 ext 105. Please note that we have limited capacity and can only accept those who meet program criteria.
*This project is supported by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance through a Victims of Crime Act of 1984 (VOCA) grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.
Victim Compensation Funding: Every state has a program to provide funds to assist crime victims in recovering from the impact of the crime. This can include funding for therapy. Each state has its own system for determining which crimes/victims are eligible for compensation, and how the compensation is provided. In general, a police report is required. We work with the Victim Compensation agencies in most states, to assist crime victims in obtaining funding for their treatment (and sometimes for travel costs as well). Our staff can assist you in arranging for your treatment, and in working with your state's agency to determine your eligibility for compensation.
